Green Bay Packers standout Jordan Love has ascended to the status of the richest quarterback in NFL history. Love set a new benchmark by agreeing to a four-year, $220 million contract extension, as reported by the New York Post. This agreement also features a $75 million signing bonus.
Over the duration of the deal, which spans through 2028, Love will earn approximately $55 million annually. The 25-year-old athlete opted to sit out during training camp while awaiting a fresh contract but is now set to reunite with his teammates and gear up for the forthcoming season.
Last season, Love took over as the Packers’ starting quarterback, initially experiencing a slow start but eventually finding his groove. According to the New York Post, only Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys surpassed Love in touchdown passes last season.
In the early stages of his career, Love was a backup as former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers led the team. With Rodgers now part of the New York Jets, Love is ready to helm the Packers. The ex-Utah State University star was the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Love concluded his college career with an impressive 9,003 yards of total offense and notched up 12 games with 300 or more passing yards. Continuing his trailblazing journey last year, he became just the fifth player in league history to surpass 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in a single season.
