BREAKING: Josh Allen could have beaten Patrick Mahomes in the Pro Bowl voting for this compelling reason.

Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen were able to beat Patrick Mahomes in the Pro Bowl voting.

Patrick Mahomes gets rare ‘L’ to his illustrious resume

In his eight years playing in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes has broken longstanding records and set some new ones. His consistency and box office performances made his selection to the Pro Bowl games a no-brainer. However, for the first time since becoming a starting quarterback in the NFL, Mahomes will not be a part of the big game.

The NFL released the list of Pro Bowlers for the 2024-25 season and Patrick Mahomes has not made the cut. Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen have been selected to represent the AFC on the backs of their MVP-caliber seasons. It is rare for Mahomes to take an L in any form, but this time, the quarterback was not close to edging out his peers in the race to the Pro Bowl.

This season has not been MVP-esque for Patrick Mahomes. Since becoming the starter for the Chiefs, he has been in the conversation as one of the best quarterbacks in the AFC, however, this season his name does not come up in that conversation. Allen, Jackson, and Burrow are deserving of the Pro Bowl votes.

The quarterback is not likely to be bothered by this. His priority has always been to win as many titles as possible and team success matters to him more than individual accolades. In a way, his not making the cut works in his favor as Mahomes will get an opportunity to take plenty of rest to get ready for the Super Bowl, that is if Kansas City makes it back there.

The quarterback will not be playing in the team’s Week 18 game against the Denver Broncos. Mahomes is being careful and he is working toward being 100% in the playoffs. His ankle sprain had been a point of concern but his performance in subsequent games has put those concerns to rest.

Although Patrick Mahomes has not made the Pro Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs will still be sending five of their players to the game. Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Joe Thuney, Creed Humphrey, and Trey Smith to Orlando. This season, Mahomes has thrown for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns. It will be the first time since becoming a starter that he has recorded under 4,000 yards in a season.
