The Kansas City Chiefs have taken steps to retain a reliable member of their defense and special teams unit for the 2025 season.
According to multiple reports, Kansas City has tendered restricted free agent linebacker Jack Cochrane as free agency officially gets underway around the league. The right of first refusal tender allows those players, like Cochrane, to sign offer sheets with other teams, but it gives Kansas City the right to match any contract other teams offer.
Cochrane signed with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He has floated between the active roster and practice squad throughout his tenure with the team. He’s been a part of the last two Super Bowl victories but was placed on injured reserve in December 2024.
The former first-team All-MVFC and South Dakota standout has 42 tackles in his NFL career. With offseason camps approaching soon, he will have a chance to improve his stock ahead of the 2025 season.
