Lil Wayne is elevating his Green Bay Packers enthusiasm to new heights—something many thought was impossible. In collaboration with Mitchell & Ness, he is launching a series of exclusive, limited-edition apparel lines, as announced by Fanatics. The inaugural collection, designed by the multi-platinum artist, draws inspiration from the Packers and his latest album.
This fashion partnership will debut at the NFL Draft in Green Bay, scheduled for April 24-26. “We had to craft something that reps the G while still oozing that Tunechi vibe. It’s about more than just merchandise,” Lil Wayne remarked in the announcement. “It symbolizes legacy, loyalty, and a touch of luxury for the true fans.”
The first release—a tribute to Green Bay’s storied football tradition—includes T-shirts, hoodies, and a jersey, according to the announcement. The designs are influenced by Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter VI”—slated for release on June 6—and the iconic Cheesehead culture. Additional collections featuring other NFL teams are set to roll out throughout the year.
Where to buy the current and upcoming Mitchell & Ness x Lil Wayne collections: these items will be available at MitchellandNess.com, Fanatics.com, NFLShop.com, select team online stores, stadium outlets, and at the NFL Draft for the initial Packers lineup, as stated in the release.
Why is Lil Wayne a fan of the Green Bay Packers? He became a Packers supporter after their Super Bowl victory in 1997 over the New England Patriots in his hometown of New Orleans. “My dad went to the Super Bowl and came back with all sorts of Green Bay stuff: towels, cups, and so on. … I used that cup daily and the towel every other day, so I naturally became a Packers fan,” he explained to the NFL Network in 2017.
Lil Wayne’s passion for the team is evident in his music on multiple occasions, most notably with “Green and Yellow.” He released the original version of the song to cheer on the Super Bowl XLV-bound Packers in 2011, following Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wayne dropped a refreshed version of the track in 2021 before the Packers’ NFC divisional playoff clash with the Los Angeles Rams. There’s also a Brett Favre nod in Lil Wayne’s “Get High Rule The World,” and he mentioned the team during his 2023 ESPYs performance of “A Milli.”
This admiration appears mutual. The Packers gifted the rapper a signed football around Christmas 2020, and he led Lambeau Field in a rendition of “Roll Out the Barrel” during a playoff game that same year.
