The 14-2 Detroit Lions are heading into the biggest game of their season, facing off against the 14-2 Minnesota Vikings on “Sunday Night Football.” The winner will be crowned NFC North champions and clinch the No. 1 overall seed in the conference, securing home-field advantage throughout the postseason along with a first-round bye.
The Lions are coming off a victory over the San Francisco 49ers, in which their defense showed signs of vulnerability due to injuries sustained throughout the season.
However, their offense has been firing on all cylinders, largely thanks to the consistent and efficient connection between Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown—both of whom earned Pro Bowl honors.
Following the announcement, the Lions’ PR team revealed that St. Brown is only the third wide receiver in franchise history to earn three consecutive Pro Bowl berths, joining the ranks of Calvin Johnson and Herman Moore.
Since being selected in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft, Amon-Ra St. Brown has quickly established himself as one of the top wide receivers in the league, and this season has been no exception with his production at an all-time high.
With just one recorded drop, St. Brown has tallied 109 receptions, 1,186 receiving yards, and a career-high 12 touchdowns. He will be a key factor for the Lions in Week 18 and throughout the postseason, regardless of their final seeding.
If the Lions lose to the Vikings, despite having the second-best record in the conference, they’d drop to the No. 5 seed, as the top four spots are reserved for division winners regardless of record. The stakes are incredibly high at Ford Field on Sunday night, and St. Brown could play a crucial role in Detroit’s pursuit of success.
