Los Angeles Dodgers part ways with their $60 million utility star Chris Taylor

With the long list of injured pitchers, the Los Angeles Dodgers recently released Chris Taylor, one of their longest-serving utility players. The 2024 World Series Champions went on to make headlines across the MLB fraternity after they released Austin Barnes. The official handle of the Los Angeles Dodgers even announced the exit of Chris Taylor on X. The post mentioned“The Dodgers activated IF/OF Tommy Edman and released IF/OF Chris Taylor.”

The Dodgers’ post on X even mentioned Tommy Edman’s comeback to the team roster after his 10-day absence due to his injured ankles. The president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, also reacted to the recent moves of the Dodgers. During a press conference, Friedman spoke about the exit of Austin Barnes and Chris Taylor. He said, “This has been a very emotional week for all of us. Barnsey and CT have been in the middle of some huge moments for this organization. Both guys have left an indelible mark on our culture and where we’re at at this point.”While talking about the contributions made by Chris Taylor, Friedman said, “We saw it in 2021, winning 106 games and not winning the division. Our primary goal during the regular season is to win the division. That is what we feel puts us in the best position to accomplish our ultimate goal.”While discussing about the athletic prowess of Taylor, Andrew Friedman further elaborated- “He is the consummate pro, the way he did a trust fall when he got here. He came in hungry and wanting to get better and dove in with our hitting guys, with our position coaches. He was a huge part of so much success that we’ve enjoyed. Can’t say enough about the human, the worker, the teammate, the player.”According to the rumor mill in the MLB world, the speculations around the sudden exit of Chris Taylor are pointing towards the entry of the former KBO star Hyeseong Kim on the 40-players’ roster of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reportedly, Chris Taylor was in the last year of his $60 million contract with the Dodgers.
