BREAKING NEWS: 3 Vikings Players Who Could Be Cut..anhtruc.

3 Vikings who (maybe) won't make the 53-man roster in 2025

The Minnesota Vikings are setting the stage for a serious bid at the NFC North title next season. With Sam Darnold departing, the reins of the starting quarterback position might fall to JJ McCarthy, who promises to deliver impressive efficiency.

The Vikings’ defense is shaping up to be a formidable force, bolstered by some strategic free-agent acquisitions that could propel them to become one of the top three defensive units in the league. Of course, this hinges on Minnesota making some astute picks at the upcoming draft, particularly along the defensive line and at cornerback.

While these moves are promising for the franchise, the ripple effects might mean tough times ahead for a few current players. As the Vikings eye a stronger roster, some players might find themselves seeking opportunities elsewhere by the 2025 season.

Linebacker Brian Asamoah, for instance, finds himself almost exclusively contributing to special teams, logging just 69 defensive snaps over the past two seasons. His skill set is valuable, but with pressing needs at cornerback and on the defensive line, his position on the 53-man roster could be in jeopardy. Special teams players are key, but they need to bring depth to the defense as well, a step Asamoah has yet to take convincingly.

Another player on shaky ground is defensive end Levi Drake Rodriguez. Despite his potential, the free-agent signings of Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave have reshaped the Vikings’ defensive front, pushing Rodriguez further down the pecking order.

Drafting fresh talent on the defensive line in 2025 could squeeze him out entirely. While Rodriguez might end up on the practice squad, where he can continue honing his skills, the odds are stacked against significant playing time.

Lastly, cornerback Dwight McGlothern is also facing an uphill battle. Despite going undrafted, his brief stint last season was marked by a commendable zero completions on two targets, yet questions remain about his speed and physicality to consistently disrupt NFL-caliber offenses. With cornerback being a probable target for the Vikings in the draft, McGlothern might also see himself transitioning to the practice squad as competition intensifies.

As the Vikings enhance their roster, strategic decisions will inevitably lead to reshaping the team. While the path to the playoffs looks promising, some hard choices are on the horizon for current players.
