Andy Reid Will Retire as Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs and Be Replaced by Ben Johnson
The Kansas City Chiefs are on the path to potentially being the first team to ever 3-Peat on Championships, and with this comes a ton of un-answered questions. Andy Reid will be 67 by the time the 2025 Season rolls around, and he could go out on top and retire.
If Reid were to retire after three straight championships, there’s one guy who could be the savior to continue the Chiefs legacy and that’s Ben Johnson.
Why Ben Johnson?
Johnson is arguably the most-coveted NON-VETERAN coaching candidate in the Past 5 Seasons. He’s led an elite offense with the Lions for the past 3 seasons and has a well-respected resume. Here’s a list of part of Johnson’s IMPRESSIVE RESUME:
- Spent 4-Years as a QB for the UNC Tar Heels
- Received his Bachelor’s in Math and Computer Science. • He holds the rare achievement of a perfect score on a Mathematical Association of America test
- Many Ivy league schools wanted him for his mind but he wanted to play football so he decided to walk-on at UNC.
- When his time at UNC was up he was offered a great job in software devopment, however he wanted football.
- In 2007 Tar Heel Connor Barth was asked, who is first to arrive and last to leave? His answer: QB2 Ben Johnson.
- Current Bengals Head Coach Zac Taylor raved about Johnson from their time together in Miami , ” He’s much smarter than I was in school. He sees things differently. He does a great job with the analytics side of things, as well.
Chiefs fans are likely screaming at this piece that Reid will never retire, but there will be a time in the next few seasons where it is considered, and especially if they three-peat, this would be the perfect time. This would likely be the most attractive Head Coaching Position Opening in the previous 15 years, and Johnson SHOULD be a Top-3 Candidate.
