The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2024 National Football League season with some very high expectations.

Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out the way they hoped it would.

Dallas currently is in third place in the NFC East with a 3-7 record and will be without the services of star quarterback Dak Prescott for the rest of the season. It would be a shock if the Cowboys could turn things around the rest of the way without Prescott, although they do have a lot of talent throughout the roster.

Once the season ends, there surely will be changes made. Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine suggested that the Cowboys should cut ties with starting safety Malik Hooker.

“Just about everything said about Donovan Wilson could be said about Malik Hooker,” Ballentine said. “The Cowboys pass defense has been atrocious. While Hooker’s individual numbers aren’t as bad as Wilson’s, it’s hard to quantify safety play. As the defenders charged most with communicating coverage and playing deep, they have to be held culpable for the unit’s struggles this season.

“Cutting the 28-year-old would clear $3.8 million if done before June 1, so there’s a little less financial incentive to make that move.”

Hooker signed a three-year, $21 million deal with the Cowboys and has started all 10 games for the team this year. He’s been solid and has one interception and 46 tackles. While this is the case, the front office is going to have to take a hard look at the roster and seemingly no one will be safe.
