After this year’s draft, the Kansas City Chiefs signed a few undrafted free agents with potential, including former Florida Gators wide receiver Elijhah Badger. During his rookie minicamp press conference, he vented his frustrations about not being drafted and his mindset trying to make the team.
“I for sure have more to prove. I for sure should have (been) drafted,” said Badger, “But, you know, it’s God’s plan. However, it works.”
After beginning his college career at Arizona State, Badger transferred to Florida in 2024. He made the most of his lone season, leading the Gators in receiving. He had a team-high of 803 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He is excited for the opportunity to prove himself to be a valued NFL wide receiver.
“This is my dream, obviously, to make it to the NFL. So, every day going to work, it just feels good to be back with a team. Just feels good,” said Badger, “But like it was just work I put in, just coming in every day, you learn to play book, getting the playbook down fast, and just to do day by day and just make consistent.”
The Chiefs are well-stocked at receiver, but durability is never guaranteed, and Carson Steele’s performance to earn a spot last season is an example of promising opportunities.
