In the lead-up to Super Bowl LIX, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed allegations suggesting that NFL referees might favor certain teams, including his own. Reid firmly dismissed these claims, stating, “They don’t favor one side or the other. … That’s not how this thing goes. I don’t think the officials care about what’s said. They’re doing their job, and they’re doing it to the best of their ability.”
Reid emphasized that such theories are unfounded and disrespectful to the officials’ professionalism. He added, “It’s a good story, but that’s not the reality of how it works. You’d be insulting them to think that’s what they do. They go out, and they call it like they see it.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also addressed these concerns, labeling the conspiracy theories as “ridiculous” and affirming the integrity of the league’s officiating.
Despite the controversy, Reid remained focused on the upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles, aiming to lead the Chiefs to another championship victory.
