Jordan Love is preparing for a crucial 2025 NFL season after experiencing a 2024 campaign marked by highs and lows. The Green Bay Packers quarterback encountered numerous obstacles, including injuries that affected his performance and limited his playing time.
Recognizing the significance of fully backing his key player, head coach Matt LaFleur has emphasized the need for Love to become a more vocal leader. With a substantial contract extension, the expectations for Love are significant—not only on the field but also from an organizational perspective.
He is anticipated to demonstrate strong leadership and deliver exceptional performance to help bring the franchise back into the spotlight. LaFleur’s Packers are bolstering their wide receiver corps to provide Love with more offensive options. However, they understand that this alone isn’t sufficient.
In Green Bay, they are diligently working to ensure that transitioning from an era like Aaron Rodgers’ doesn’t become an insurmountable challenge. The Packers’ strategy to optimize QB Love involves quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion, who is tasked with unlocking Jordan Love’s potential as he readies for his sixth NFL season and his third position coach. “I believe it’s about mastering our progressions, the timing, and the footwork in our reads,” Mannion commented on his starting quarterback to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
“And then, just the fundamentals of the position. For me, it really begins with footwork. It’s something all quarterbacks need to concentrate on, but I first learned its importance with Matt in L.A. in 2017. It was a pivotal moment in my playing career. I improved significantly by understanding how footwork enhances accuracy, decision-making, and play timing,” Mannion explained.
Mannion’s influence on HC LaFleur and the Packers is noteworthy. Promoted to quarterbacks coach after Tom Clements retired, Mannion is expected to collaborate with LaFleur, bringing a complementary approach designed to elevate Love’s performance in the 2025 season.
