It would take a miracle for the San Francisco 49ers to squeeze into the playoffs after their loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15.
The defeat dropped them to 6-8, compounding what has been a disappointing campaign after making it to the Super Bowl last season. Mathematically, the 49ers could still advance with three games left. The formula, however, is not in their favor.
San Francisco’s remaining opponents are the Miami Dolphins, the Detroit Lions and the Arizona Cardinals. These three outings could serve as a barometer for the team’s brass on what changes need to be made moving forward.
With this in mind, 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa sent a subtle message to his teammates regarding their commitment to the squad.

“We’re going to find out who wants to be here the next few weeks,” said the former Defensive Player of the Year in a report from NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
There were high hopes for the 49ers this season, with Bosa, quarterback Brock Purdy, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle once again leading the charge.
Several key players, however, were stricken with injuries, including running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and linebacker Dre Greenlaw.
San Francisco has yet to tally back-to-back wins this season.
Echoing Bosa, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan underscored the importance of respecting the game and the vision of the squad, even if they’re virtually out of contention for the playoffs.
“That’s the standard of how we do things, and if you can’t play to that standard, then make it easy for us and show us that and you won’t be a part of it,” said Shanahan in the same report.
