BREAKING NEWS: One in custody after drone flown into Comerica Park during Tigers’ home opener…TS.DHUNG.

Detroit police said one person was taken into custody after they flew a drone into Comerica Park during the Tigers’ home opener Friday.

The drone was piloted into the stadium at about 1:43 p.m., Detroit Police Cpt. Dan Donakowski said in a statement. That was about 33 minutes after the first pitch.

Comerica Park is pictured during the Tigers' home opener on April 4, 2025.

“The incident originated from the top floor of the parking structure at Brush and Adams,” Donakowski said.

Police said the operator was quickly identified and taken into custody by officers near the scene. The FBI and Michigan State Police are investigating along with the DPD.

No additional details, including the suspect’s identity, would be released Friday, Donakowski said.

The incident comes months after a drone was flown into Comerica Park on Sept. 4, 2024, stopping a Green Day concert for about 10 minutes. Friday’s Tigers game continued without interruption despite the drone incident.
