In an act of extraordinary generosity and selflessness, Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm has donated his entire $20 million signing bonus and endorsement earnings to charitable causes focused on homelessness, hunger, and veteran support, the team confirmed on Thursday.
Bohm, 28, stunned fans and the baseball community when he made the announcement during a press conference at Citizens Bank Park. The gesture, he said, was something he had been planning for years — not for publicity, but out of genuine compassion for those who need it most.
“There are millions of people struggling every day — families without homes, kids without food, veterans without support,” Bohm said, visibly emotional. “If I can be a small part of helping them get back on their feet, that means more to me than any home run or trophy.”
The $20 million will be distributed across multiple organizations, including Feeding America, Habitat for Humanity, Wounded Warrior Project, and several local shelters and relief groups in Philadelphia, Omaha (his hometown), and other MLB cities.
