BREAKING NEWS: Steelers players already recruiting $72 million wide receiver to Pittsburgh.THANHDUNG

It’s no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers have a wide receiver problem, something that has been an issue since last year when the team tried on more than one occasion to bring in an upgrade before ultimately striking out.

Granted, the team did pull off a trade for veteran wideout Mike Williams, but he did not prove to be what the team needed to solve its woes. Entering the 2025 offseason, the Steelers have George Pickens and not much else on their roster.

There figures to be some intriguing options available this offseason, both via trade and free agency. One player who will be available in the latter area is Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk, who is reportedly going to be released.

Connecting the Steelers with Kirk makes total sense. After all, Pittsburgh was in the process of trying to acquire the veteran wideout before he suffered a broken collarbone that ended his 2024 campaign.

Taking the torch from running back Cordarrelle Patterson, who worked hard to recruit multiple receivers to Pittsburgh last season, safety DeShon Elliott and linebacker Patrick Queen are already trying to recruit Kirk.

“You’re now a Steeler,” Elliott wrote in the comment section of a social media post announcing the reported move with Kirk. Queen replied to Elliott’s comment with exclamation points.

Assuming he can fully recover from his collarbone injury, Kirk would be an instant upgrade for the Steelers and would offer a solid one-two punch at the position with Pickens. He should also come cheap due to the fact that he’s coming off a serious injury and is still getting paid by the Jaguars.

The only potential hiccup with a Kirk signing is he’s primarily a slot receiver and the Steelers drafted Roman Wilson for that role in 2024. However, with Wilson providing nothing during his rookie campaign, it’s doubtful he will prevent Pittsburgh from adding a slot specialist like Kirk.
