BREAKING NEWS: ‘We will be ready to go come Thursday’: Packers look forward to quick turnaround on Thanksgiving – VC

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Packers just played Sunday. They have another game Thanksgiving night at Lambeau Field against Miami.

Pro football is hard on the body. So, it’s difficult to play two games in five days. The Packers are accepting that challenge.

“It’s almost kind of nice, because you get a couple of days without having to be out there (practicing) in pads,” said Packers defensive end Lukas Van Ness. “It’s a quick turnaround. Just got to do what you can, refresh your mind and get ready to go Thursday. I think the coaches have done a good job so far, kind of preparing us and getting out this game plan quick. So we will be ready to go come Thursday.”

“Kind of have that ‘on to the next’ mentality,” said Packers safety Evan Williams. “You want to look back at your film from the previous game and kind of correct those mistakes, but at the same time, to be able to pivot and to adjust and make the necessary adjustments for this game. You kind of got to dump the stuff that you learned last week. Just kind of move on to the next and try to be a quick learner.”

At least the Packers are playing at home. It’s expected to be cold for a Dolphins team that usually struggles in that climate.

“I hope it slows them down a little bit,” said Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon, who also added that the Packers are fast, too. “It’s always our advantage playing in Lambeau. Whether it’s with our fans, or in the cold. Miami is a warm team, so I hope they are ready.”

There’s something special about playing on Thanksgiving night.

“Getting a chance to play in prime time, it’s always fun,” said Packers tight end Tucker Kraft. “Hopefully, we get a chance to showcase our offense in the way it’s meant to be played. Got to that last week, and we’re going to just try to be more consistent this week.”

The Dolphins are 5-6 overall, but currently on a three-game winning streak.

“They have a lot of dynamic players, across the whole offense,” said Van Ness. “They build a lot of different looks, and they show some things that’s kind of eyewash. I think it comes down this week, with the short week, just believing in your fundamentals. Believe it in your eyes what you’re seeing. I think we’ll make a lot of plays by doing that.”

Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur said wide receiver Romeo Doubs is still in concussion protocol but did attend the team’s walkthrough on Tuesday.
