Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is quietly having one of the top seasons of any QB in the NFL.
The 29-year-old signal-caller agreed to a three-year, $100 million contract with the Bucs back in March after a breakout season in which he threw for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions with a 94.6 passer rating while leading Tampa Bay to a 9-8 record and upset of the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
Mayfield has looked impressive through the first 15 games of this season, and on Wednesday, the NFL announced that Mayfield had been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday’s 40-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
It’s the fifth time in his career Mayfield has won a Player of the Week award.

Mayfield completed 81.5% of his passes (22 of 27) for 288 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for another 25 yards with a 135.3 passer rating to lead the Bucs to their fourth straight win.
Mayfield ranks third in touchdowns (32) and completion percentage (70.8), fourth in passing yards (3,617), and sixth in passer rating (104.1) this season. The only other two QBs with more touchdown passes than him are Joe Burrow (36) and Lamar Jackson (34).
At 8-6, Tampa sits in first place in the NFC South and is on prime position to lock up a playoff spot. The Bucs close out the regular season with games against the Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints.
