The Pittsburgh Steelers met with Cal quarterback Chandler Rogers at the Tropical Bowl in Daytona Beach, Florida last week.

According to a report by Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Steelers were one of a dozen teams to meet with the Cal prospect during the week of practice and the game.

The Tropical Bowl is considered to be a third-tier college all-star game, behind the East-West Shrine Bowl and the Senior Bowl, which will take place over the next two weeks.

Rogers measured in at 5-foot-11 1/2, 193 pounds, with 9 5/8-inch hands. A Mansfield, Texas native, Rogers had a long and winding path to professional football.

He spent his first season at Southern Miss, when he redshirted after playing in just two games. In 2020, he transferred to Blinn College, a junior college in Brenham, Texas.

Rogers then transferred to Louisiana-Monroe, where he appeared in 12 games for the Warhawks and made six starters after an injury to starter Rhett Rodriguez. In 2022, Rogers returned to ULM and was a 12-game starter, completing 67.5% of his passing and throwing for 2,403 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Rogers then entered the transfer portal once again and landed at North Texas. He took over the starting role in Week 3, and went on to have his best season statistically, completing 62.2% of his passes while throwing for 3,382 yards, 29 touchdowns and just give interceptions.

The strong performance with the Mean Green prompted Rogers to once again enter the transfer portal to move up a level, this time catching on at Cal. He played as a backup for most of the season, making one start against SMU in the season finale.

The Steelers have just one quarterback under contract on their 2025 roster, former Miami Dolphins backup Skylar Thompson, and they should be expected to be in the market for one in the 2025 NFL Draft.
