NFL referees are always under scrutiny. Their performance in the divisional round of the playoffs hasn’t done them any favors.
Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins is the latest victim.
Dawkins was flagged for an offensive holding CBS analyst Tony Romo labeled “a terrible call” during the Bills game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Dawkins forced Baltimore outside linebacker David Ojabo to the ground, which called back a completion from Josh Allen to Curtis Samuel for 8 yards.
“Oh, that is not a hold at all Jim (Nantz),” Romo said. “He just swipes his hands down. A little trap technique which is like when you try to put your hands on and you swipe them down. That’s a terrible call.”
The penalty quashed the Bills’ momentum and they were unable to capitalize on an interception on Lamar Jackson.
