BREAKING: Troubled Wide Receiver Facing Charges Before Playoff Matchup – Could Revive Career With Chiefs, Chargers…TS.DHUNG.

demarcus robinson facing charges

Former fourth-rounder wide receiver Demarcus Robinson is facing charges before their playoff matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. According to new reports, the wideout is facing charges with a misdemeanor of driving under the influence stemming from his arrest incident in November shortly after the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Originally selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, the former Florida product has been a journeyman for the majority of his career in the league, spending time with the Chiefs, Raiders, Ravens and now the Rams. While head coach Sean McVay spoke positively about him following the incident, it does not mean he has a high chance of coming back to the team since he will be a free agent after the postseason.

Chiefs Acquire Wide Receiver DeAndre Hopkins From The Titans

Signing with the Rams in 2023, Robinson was hoping to find a role in the deep streamline of receivers the team has. However, with the roster having such a deep group, including Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, Robinson might become the odd man out in this situation. Tutu Atwell will also be a free agent but the chances of bringing him back over Robinson are high. With Robinson becoming a probable distraction, the Rams could let him test the free agent market and see what team will take him on since he still has a lot left in him.

Reunion with Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs’ interest in Demarcus Robinson will depend on the upcoming free agency. However, the team will have two worthy playmakers rookie Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice who will come back next season. Meanwhile, DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown might leave after this year’s postseason but that’s if the Chiefs don’t attempt to offer them a new deal. The issue with that is Chiefs are expected to be limited with salary cap to give most of their playmakers with a proper contract that will intrigue them to stay, especially if they do pull off a three-peat Super Bowl win.

The Chiefs won’t need a new wideout if these two receivers come back but with Juju Smith-Schuster and Skyy Moore leaving, the team might have to play it safe and bring back Robinson. Even though he was just a rotational playmaker, he could be the next Justin Watson on the roster since he’ll be an impending free agent as well. Let’s assume for the Chiefs that the more weapons, the better for Patrick Mahomes to continue throwing it down the field ferociously.

New Lightning Bolt?

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers have made plenty of progress under head coach Jim Harbaugh, making it back to the first postseason since 2018. However, there’s work to be done if they want Justin Herbert to help the team head to the Super Bowl one day. Outstanding rookie Ladd McConkey is constructing himself into a Julian Edelman-type wide receiver while Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer probably can’t perform consistently. If they want to go toe-for-toe against competitive teams in the league, they must do everything in their power to put Herbert in the best position for that.

Since Harbaugh wants to win football games with a run game, they probably won’t select a wide receiver in the first round. Despite that, they could roll the dice on Demarcus Robinson in the rotation to see if he has the hands that Herbert is looking for. No one should expect him to be spectacular but enough to go down the field and catch those contested footballs to fuel momentum for the entire offense.
