Buccaneer who saw his 2024 season shortened early will have a shot at redemption in Tampa in 2025.THANHDUNG

Everyone loves a good comeback story, and it looks like one will be taking place in 2025 in Tampa Bay.

The Bucs announced on Tuesday that they are re-signing veteran free agent cornerback Bryce Hall on a one-year deal.

Hall was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, for whom he appeared in 39 games over 4 years with 26 starts.  He started all 17 games for New York in 2021.

He joined the Bucs last year on a one-year deal and finished the preseason as the team’s #3 cornerback.  His opportunity came quickly in the opener, as he came into the game after Zyon McCollum suffered a concussion.  Unfortunately, his season ended 11 plays later after he suffered a dislocated ankle and was carted off the field.

Now, Hall is set to potentially step right back to where he was at before his gruesome injury: the first player off the bench.  Hall’s absence last year was sorely missed, as the Bucs ended up having to use players like Tyrek Funderburk and Josh Hayes during the regular season due to attrition at the position.  It’s no small part of why Tampa Bay struggled to defend opposing passing attacks far too often last year.

With Hall returning, the Bucs now boast a cornerback room of Jamel Dean, McCollum, Hall, Kindle Vildor, Christian Izien, Funderburk, and Hayes. With the addition of Vildor last week in free agency and Hall’s return, the Bucs have a deeper and more experienced group than they did at the end of the season.

It was proven last year that you can never have enough good cornerbacks, particularly in a passing league.  And with Hall back in the fold, it could be a memorable year for the sixth-year cornerback as well as the Bucs’ defense.
