The Buffalo Bills have a lot to ponder when it comes to what they’ll do with the first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. They could trade the pick in order to pick up a star player such as Myles Garrett, or they could hold onto it and take another swing after several years of swings and misses at the top of the draft.
In his latest mock for CBS Sports, Kyle Stackpole has the Bills holding onto the pick and taking Georgia safety Malaki Starks.
“It doesn’t appear that Malaki Starks will fall this far on draft night, but that’s how this mock shook out,” Stackpole writes. “Which the Bills are thrilled about. The Georgia standout is a do-everything safety who makes the job of his teammates easier.”
The Bills drafted Cole Bishop in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft but he missed training camp with injuries and took a while to get worked into earning real defensive snaps. Taylor Rapp has been a very good role player for the Bills, but Buffalo would likely feel better having two young guys on the back end to be their eventual safety duo in Bishop and Starks while Rapp acts as the veteran leader who takes a backseat at some point down the road.
