After a good 2024 season, Carlos Alcaraz is looking forward to taking a giant leap in his career next year. He has often revealed that he hopes to win more Grand Slams in the future. However, those plans could be thwarted as Novak Djokovic recently announced his partnership with Andy Murray.

Alcaraz ended the year as the World No. 3, a drop from his No. 2 finish in 2023. However, the Spaniard produced some excellent displays on the court this season, which earned him four titles, including two Grand Slams and one Master 1000.

Alcaraz’s only major contender this season was Jannik Sinner, as Djokovic failed to deliver as expected. Nevertheless, things are about to change ahead of the next season as the Serbian has made some significant changes in his team.

Djokovic recently announced that former World No. 1 and three-time Major winner Murray will be his coach ahead of the 2025 Australian Open. He is hungry and eager in his quest for a 25th Grand Slam.

During a recent interview, Alcaraz revealed that Murray is the right coach to lead Novak Djokovic back to his best. He also jokingly pointed out that he will be preparing to play both legends at the Australian Open.

Alcaraz is currently in New York ahead of an exhibition match against Ben Shelton at Madison Square Garden. The tie will be his first since the disappointing Davis Cup Finals exit with Spain.

Carlos Alcaraz has been one of the standout players in the past two seasons. He opened his Grand Slam account by winning the US Open in 2022 and then followed it up with a 2023 Wimbledon Championship.

This season, Alcaraz defended his Wimbledon title and won his maiden French Open in Paris. However, he has yet to win the Australian Open.

The youngster lost to Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals of the Melbourne Major in 2024. But, ahead of the 2025 Australian Open, he stated that he was confident about finally winning the title Down Under.

The 2025 Australian Open gets underway on January 12. Jannik Sinner will head to the event as the defending champion and favorite to win it again. Alcaraz will need to put in excellent performances to usurp the World No. 1.
