Carlos Alcaraz had a stellar 2024 season in which he accumulated several records while also winning two Grand Slam titles. Ahead of 2025, the Spaniard is already looking forward to making another groundbreaking career milestone. He has revealed that he’s confident of claiming the Australian Open which starts on January 12.

Alcaraz became the youngest player ever to win Grand Slams on hard, clay, and grass courts after winning the US Open, French Open, and Wimbledon, respectively. The Australian Open is the only remaining silverware for the Spaniard to claim his Career Slam.

He has already announced that he will not play in any official tournament before heading to Melbourne but will take part in two charity matches at the Rod Laver Arena on January 8 and 10. The 21-year-old didn’t play in any warm-up tournament before the Australian Open this season but did well to reach the quarterfinals before losing to Alexander Zverev.

During a recent interview, Alcaraz revealed that he is seeking to become the youngest male player to win the Career Slam by winning the Australian Open in 2025.

Alcaraz finished the 2024 season as World No.3, his lowest year-end position in two years. Even though he showed brilliance in several competitions, he failed to be consistent with his form. He claimed only four titles, with his arch-rival Jannik Sinner winning a double of that.

Carlos Alcaraz has made significant changes to his 2025 schedule. The Spaniard has decided to play on the hard courts in Rotterdam after the Australian Open rather than competing in the South American clay which he has often done in recent years. After that, he will then head to the United States for the Sunshine Doubles ATP Masters 1000 events.

Also, he has added Pablo Carreno Busta’s former coach, Samuel Lopez, to his coaching team. Lopez will now work alongside Alcaraz’s current coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, to bring out the best in him next season. He revealed during the aforementioned interview, that he looks forward to becoming a better player under their tutelage.

However, Lopez won’t be with Alcaraz in Melbourne in January. However, he will be on his bench at the Rotterdam Open the following month.
