Celtics Coach Draws Attention With Comments About Nuggets Firing Michael Malone -ANHTRUC.

The Denver Nuggets shocked the basketball world on Tuesday after it was revealed that they had come to the drastic decision to fire head coach Michael Malone.

The unexpected turn of events comes less than two weeks before the NBA Playoffs start as the Nuggets decided to part ways with the same man who led them to a championship in 2023.

Boston Celtics’ Joe Mazzulla, who is currently in his third season as the team’s head coach, was asked to share his thoughts on Malone’s firing ahead of the Celtics’ matchup against the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

Mazzulla got brutally honest with his statement.

“I wake up every day saying this could be my last day,” he said. “You have to have that type of perspective because it gives you gratitude. It also keeps you hungry.

“… Every day I remind myself of my own mortality, and I think that’s what keeps me in a perspective and a gratitude of the opportunity that you have.”

Mazulla’s straightforward remarks quickly drew attention on social media.

“Cap. There’s no reason for them to fire you. One of a few coaches that their job is secured. U have a no fire clause in player terms,” a comment on X read.

“wow, it sounds like such a rewarding job that the NBA has created for this culture,” said another.

“This is what I talk about when I debate with @C3datdudeClark. This is an asinine culture that sports is providing. There’s no reason to be firing a coast at one NBA championship within the past five years and you’re legit a top five seed in your conference,” a fan pointed out.

“When you’re in a market like the Celtics, you never know,” a reaction read.

“Joe Mazzulla quotes are the best 😭” another said.

“Come to Denver you weird goofball,” demanded a user.

As some fans have expressed, it doesn’t seem likely that Mazzulla is currently on the hot seat — especially considering how the defending champs are currently the No. 2 seed in the East heading into the playoffs.

Then again, the last coach who won a championship before Mazzulla just got fired, so as the Celtics shot-caller said in his statement, it’s tantamount to always keep things in perspective.
