The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to be in their third consecutive Super Bowl on Sunday. Throughout the week, however, members of the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles organizations will have tons of media availability. This began on Monday night with both teams’ opening night press conferences.

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Andy Reid, Matt Nagy, and many other members of the Chiefs organization spoke to the media. Among them was owner Clark Hunt, who had some good news to share about Andy Reid. According to Nate Taylor of the Athletic, Hunt said, “I know for a fact he’ll be back next season.”

Speculation about Reid retiring from coaching has existed for the past few seasons. The 66-year-old coach has already won three Super Bowls and was named Coach of the Year in 2002. Furthermore, Reid moved up to fourth all-time in regular season wins this season and is only four postseason victories away from passing Bill Belichick for the most all-time

If Kansas City wins the Super Bowl on Sunday, Reid will only need three more W’s to become the most winning coach in the playoffs. That said, Reid has earned the ability to call it a career whenever he pleases, and no one would blame him if he retired after this season.

Honestly, if the Chiefs win a third straight Super Bowl, that would be the peak of Reid’s coaching career. Nevertheless, Reid likely wants to pass Belichick in postseason wins, which he would have a chance to do by sticking around another season.

While Chiefs Kingdom is glad to hear that Reid will be back next year, they know his coaching time is nearing its end. Whenever Reid calls it a career, he will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Moreover, he will be fondly remembered by Kansas City.
