With football fans waiting for the 2025 NFL schedule release, Travis Kelce revealed that we should expect to see the Kansas City Chiefs travel to Brazil to play Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, September 5.

While recording the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason on Monday, the tight end initially referred to the Chiefs‘ season opener as a rumor. After realizing that the episode wouldn’t be released until Wednesday, Kelce decided to tell his audience what he knows about Week 1.
“This isn’t out until Wednesday? Yeah, we’re definitely playing in Brazil,’ Kelce said, before showing his first sign of complaint about the fixture. “I’ll be there, not to do a podcast. I’ll be playing football in the (expletive) heat.”
The NFL has confirmed a couple of fixtures for the Chiefs, including a Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys as well as a division game against the Denver Broncos on Christmas.

The Week 1 game against the Chargers hasn’t been announced by the league yet, though Kelce’s comments appear to confirm the reports. Apart from this showdown, it’s also been leaked that Kelce, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes will have the Super Bowl LIX rematch against Jalen Hurts’ Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 before visiting the New York Giants on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 3.
Kelce warns Chargers, NFL that he’ll overcome the challenges
Either way, Kelce appears to be particularly concerned about the season opener. The 35-year-old is already thinking about the weather in Sao Paulo, fearing that the conditions won’t be ideal for an NFL game.
“There’s just something about getting close to the equator, I don’t want to put on football uniform. I’ve been in Jacksonville in September, that’s (expletive) miserable,” added Kelce, before warning Herbert‘s Chargers and the NFL that he’ll still do whatever it takes to help the Chiefs emerge victorious.
“Sao Paulo, is that by the water? I’d rather it be dry than humid, I’m a sweaty guy. If it is humid, I am going to be miserable. But I am going to find a way to get a win.“
