In just a few days the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Houston Texans in a divisional round showdown.

The winner of Saturday’s game will face off against the winner of Sunday night’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills. As the contest looms, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke about tight end Travis Kelce, who is in the midst of a “down” season compared to his past success.

“I think the greats step up in the playoffs,” Mahomes told reporters about the Chiefs star. “It’s just higher intensity. The best players and the best leaders step up and make the best plays, and he’s done that. I expect the same from him going into these playoffs. I think his mentality that he steps on the football field with at practice and on game day resonates with the entire team and gets everybody to play their best football. That’s what it takes in order to win championships.”

While Kelce isn’t having the best season of his career, he’s still just steps away from racking up 100 receptions on the season. With three more receptions on Saturday afternoon, he’ll put his name in the record books.

Kansas City enters Saturday’s game as an 8.5-point favorite, according to ESPN Bet.
