COMEBACK HOME: It sure looks like Davante Adams just dropped another big Packers hint-kid

Davante Adams continues to add fuel to the speculation.

Davante Adams is at a crossroads.

The only thing missing from his Hall-of-Fame resume? A Super Bowl ring. He faces an uncertain future with the New York Jets, and where he plays next season could hinge on Aaron Rodgers’ status.

Inside the Raiders' decision to acquire WR Davante Adams in ...

If Rodgers remains in New York, we can assume Adams will return for one last dance (for real, this time) and chase a championship with his Hall-of-Fame buddy. However, if Rodgers moves elsewhere or retires, it’s game on for the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers need wide receiver help. They will likely cast a wide net, which may include a blockbuster move for Tee Higgins or DK Metcalf. Failing that, they could take the more on-brand approach of using a Day 2 draft pick on a pass-catcher who dominated at the Senior Bowl.

Another path is to mend fences with Adams and bring him home.

Adams hasn’t exactly cooled down the rumors and sounds open to playing for the Packers again. He took it a step further with a recent post on social media.

Davante Adams’ cryptic post has Packers fans dreaming of a reunion

Adams knows what he’s doing. His latest Instagram story features an image of his shoes. Green and gold shoes.

It might sound like an overreaction, but let’s be honest: Adams knew the response his post would get. Oh, just a random image of his Packers-themed shoes? Yeah, he’s fully aware of how Packers fans will take it.

Adams could’ve played down the speculation. He didn’t do that. In fact, he keeps taking it a step further by adding more fuel. Kay Adams tweeted that this is Adams’ “master plan.”

After all, Davante has had a lot of Packers-related conversations on the Up & Adams show this offseason.

He has praised Jordan Love, so why not reunite with him? Adams would join a Packers team ready to compete now, and his arrival could help the offense reach its potential. He would be the missing piece, opening everything up for the other playmakers.

It doesn’t mean a trade is imminent. In fact, the Packers probably won’t trade for Adams. They would likely only consider a move if the Jets release him.

The Packers won’t want to bring him back on his current deal. That said, New York cutting Adams is in play, as it would save almost $30 million in cap space. Why would another team make a trade offer when they know the Jets will likely release him?

Adams is making a habit of dropping Packers-related hints. Brian Gutekunst, make it happen.
