Cowboys expected to sign four-time Pro Bowl cornerback for record fee in free agency-kid

The Dallas Cowboys rushing attack needs an upgrade and the team could target a new running back in free agency. There will be a handful of good options for the Cowboys when free agency opens.

Browns RB Nick Chubb expected to practise this week for first time since knee injury - Sportsnet.ca

The Cowboys had the sixth-least rushing yards in the league last season. They were tied for the least runs over 20 yards. While listing the top 30 free agents and predicting their landing spots, FanSided’s Nick Villano predicted that the Cowboys would sign Cleveland Browns star Nick Chubb.

“There is a decent chance that Chubb joins a team and turns back the clock, ala Derrick Henry this past season,” wrote Villano. “We don’t see him doing what Barkley did, but Chubb was once the very best in the league at the position. He has a particular skill set that can age better than lesser backs. The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones are going to salivate at this opportunity. They have a major need for a running back without a real game-changer on the market. However, that means they can take a low-risk chance on a guy like Chubb to see if he turns back the clock.”

Chubb made four consecutive Pro Bowls from 2019-2022. He had posted a 1,500-yard rushing campaign the year prior to his devastating injury in 2023. Chubb was once again dealing with injuries in 2024. However, he could be looking to bounce back in a new jersey as Henery did with the Baltimore Ravens.

Chubb is just two years removed from being one of, if not, the best running backs in the league. He could be a cheap acquisition and is perhaps perfect to be a complimentary runner at this stage in his career.
