Crazy Sean McDermott stat shows he could soon surpass Marv Levy as best Bills coach..ANHTRUC.

It’s a great week for the Buffalo Bills, who will be returning home in Week 16 coming off the biggest win of the season against the red hot Detroit Lions. Right out of the gate, the Buffalo Bills punched the Lions in the mouth and went up 14-0 early on in the game. Even though the Lions made great attempts to pull off a comeback, Josh Allen was too much for them to handle.

Buffalo earned themselves a hard-fought 48-42 win and improved to 11-3 on the season. Now they have three consecutive division games coming up against the New England Patriots twice, and the New York Jets.

Bills coach Sean McDermott feels invigorated in doubling up as defensive coordinator

Head coach Sean McDermott received a lot of criticism after last week’s lost against the Los Angeles Rams. He was put into various positions where he had to make some crucial game management decisions and they ended up not going his way. At the same time, he wasn’t the one who gave up 44 points…

Now after Week 15, this win by the Bills put McDermott in some elite company. First off, McDermott became the first head coach in Bills history to win 11+ games in five consecutive games. Marv Levy never did that. In addition to that, according to Howard Simon, McDermott is the 5th head coach in NFL history to pull of such a stat joining Tom Landry, Tony Dungy, Andy Reid and Bill Belichick.

Sean McDermott is closing in on becoming best Bills coach in franchise history

No matter what you want to say about McDermott, he has brought stability and has built a winning culture in Buffalo. McDermott has posted an 84-44 record since 2017 (.656 winning percentage). Since 2019, he has won 10+ games and led the Bills to their fifth consecutive AFC East title.

The biggest knock on McDermott has been his performance in the playoffs. He is one game below .500 (5-6) and has been knocked out of the playoffs three of the last four years by Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. That is where Levy still has the edge above him. However, if McDermott can get over that hump and deliver a Super Bowl to Buffalo, he will establish himself as the best head coach the Bills have ever had.
