Dak Prescott shows true colors with message to departing Dallas Cowboys QB -baro

After the departure of one long-serving Baltimore Ravens mainstay was confirmed, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott took to social media to issue his emotional reaction

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott paid an emotional tribute to his departing teammate Cooper Rush after he completed his move to the Baltimore Ravens.

The back-up QB had enjoyed eight seasons at AT&T Stadium, after making the move to Dallas back in 2017 as an unsigned rookie. From there, the 31-year-old racked up 31 appearances for the Cowboys, establishing a a 9-5 record across his 14 starts for the franchise – with making eight outings during the 2024 season.

Deputizing for the injured Prescott, he tallied up 187 of 308 passes for 1,844 yards and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions as Dallas went 4-4 during his run in the team. In total, he completed 330 of 554 passes for 3,463 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in his eight years with the Cowboys.

However, a new chapter now beckons for Rush, who has signed a two-year agreement with the Ravens, which is set to earn him $6.2 million plus incentives. He will now assume a role as an understudy to regular starter Lamar Jackson, joining rookie Devin Leary in providing competition for the superstar at M&T Bank Stadium.

It was clear that ex-colleague Prescott was left saddened to see his teammate depart Dallas, as he issued a moving reaction as Rush’s switch to the Ravens was officially confirmed. Re-posting a picture of his friend and peer, he added the following caption: “Thank you Brother.”

It had appeared inevitable that Rush was heading for the Cowboys exit door, after the franchise’s owner confirmed plans to pick up a “young quarterback” in the 2025 NFL Draft. Speaking to Dallas Morning News, Jerry Jones asserted: “I think one of our goals is to get a young quarterback in the draft.”

“I don’t know where that’s going to be. That’s why we gave a [fourth-round pick] for Trey,” he continued as he outlined Texas’ options. “It seems like all the quarterbacks, even guys we have in the fourth round, go in the first. They always go so much higher than what you think.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport believes that Rush’s departure pretty much confirmed what Jones had previously hinted at. He explained: “As soon as Cooper Rush went to the Baltimore Ravens, which I think is going to work for them, it doesn’t really matter that his style is different than Lamar (Jackson). I think he’s very capable, good solid backup.

“But, once the Cowboys let him move on, it kind of becomes really interesting to me because you obviously have Dak Prescott as the starter. He has a huge deal that he’s under contract with for several years but this, to me, says the Cowboys are going to go quarterback in the draft and I wonder how high are they gonna go.

“I would be surprised at this point if they take a quarterback in the first round. I think everybody would. But what if someone’s like, I don’t know, Quinn Ewers in the second round?”
