The tee-sheets were booked out for the afternoon as dozens of captain and crew teams hit the fairways to raise funds and support for the J.C. Varsity Club.

The goal of the fundraiser each year is to raise money to help athletes at J.C. who can’t afford things like new gear for their season.

Co-advisor for the J.C. Varsity Club, Joe Schieve, told 12 News that the club helps out the school’s athletes any way that they can.Veteran Bills DT DaQuan Jones sees positive development on offensive line

“It supports athletes in Johnson City, students that need those cleats or need equipment they can’t afford, our club steps in and buys those things for them,” said Schieve.

However, it wasn’t just your average golfer on the fairways Saturday afternoon. Buffalo Bills Defensive Tackle and Johnson City alumnus DaQuan Jones made his return for the second year in a row to give back to his hometown community.

“Just growing up in this environment and being around it my whole life, I know how tough it is to get out and tough to just get some things,” said Jones. “So anyway that we can help kids in need and athletes that need certain stuff that is kind of unique to get I’m here for it”.

The weather hasn’t been kind to golfers this season, and today was no exception to that, but that didn’t stop the players from hitting the course to give J.C. athletes the chance to play the sports they love.

“Everyone should have the feeling of being on a team. So if us paying for that is the reason they can come out and play on a team, that’s what we’re here for,” said Schieve.

Schieve added that the tournament has truly come full circle as many players that the tournament had once supported are back helping out at the event that once helped them.Buffalo Bills DT DaQuan Jones takes part in Endwell greens fundraising tournament
