DEAL ACCEPTED: Joey Bosa reportedly agrees to 1-year, $12.6 million deal with Bills.THANHDUNG

The Buffalo Bills have found quite a defensive line reinforcement.

Former Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa agreed to a one-year, $12.6 million contract with the Bills in free agency Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bosa was released by the Chargers last week after nine seasons with the team, the first of which dated back to when the team was still in San Diego. The move saved the Chargers more than $25 million in cap space, and now Bosa will move to Buffalo to fill another spot opened by a cap casualty. The Bills released Von Miller over the weekend.

Bills signing pass rusher Joey Bosa to one-year, $12.6 million deal

The 30-year-old Bosa left the Chargers second on the team’s all-time sacks list with 72, and he may very well have caught Leslie O’Neal’s 105.5 had he managed to stay consistently healthy in his career. That is the rub with Bosa. He has been named a Pro Bowler every season in which he’s played double-digit games since winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, but he’s only done that five times.

The 2024 season also represented a step back for Bosa, who notched only five sacks, which ranked fifth on a strong Chargers defense. He will now move to a Buffalo defense that also took a step back last year, ranking 17th in the NFL in total defense and 18th in sacks.

The Bills’ other moves in free agency have also seen them draw talent from Los Angeles. Wide receiver Joshua Palmer, Bosa’s Chargers teammate, agreed to a three-year, $36 million deal, while Los Angeles Rams pass-rusher Michael Hoecht will join Bosa up front on a two-year, $24 million contract.
