Cactus League Game 12, 3/2/2025: White Sox 3, Dodgers 6

The Dodgers split up for Sunday’s Cactus League action, with one squad hosting the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch and another traveling to Mesa to face the Athletics.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — At Camelback Ranch, Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow took the mound and delivered an efficient and dominant performance. The right-hander needed 22 pitches to complete his outing, allowing one hit while striking out two. He was in complete control, throwing 16 of his 22 pitches for strikes—an impressive 73% strike rate.

Tanner Scott followed in relief in the fourth inning, bouncing back from previous struggles with a clean frame. The left-hander needed only 12 pitches to get through the inning, striking out one while allowing no hits or runs.

Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman were in the starting lineup, with Ohtani serving as the designated hitter and Freeman making his spring debut at first base. Ohtani finished 1-for-2 with a single, while Freeman showed encouraging progress in his return from right ankle surgery. He didn’t miss a beat at the plate, launching a towering home run in the bottom of the fourth to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.

Kirby Yates entered in the fifth inning but struggled with command, loading the bases and allowing the tying run to score. He was pulled after recording two outs, finishing with a line of 0.2 innings, two hits, one walk, one earned run, and one strikeout. Left-hander Brandon Neeck came in to escape the jam and prevent further damage.

In the sixth, Teoscar Hernández provided a spark with a solo home run, putting the Dodgers back in front 2-1.

Blake Treinen took the mound in the seventh and was electric, striking out the side in dominant fashion. The veteran right-hander, expected to be a key piece of the Dodgers’ bullpen this season, looked sharp as he mowed through the White Sox lineup.

The Dodgers broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh, taking advantage of defensive miscues and timely hitting to extend their lead to 6-1.

From there, the bullpen took care of business, and the Dodgers cruised to a 6-3 victory over Chicago. The win brings them to 6-6 in Cactus League play.

After a day off on Monday, the Dodgers will be back in action on March 4th, facing the Cincinnati Reds at Camelback Ranch. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. PST.
