The Los Angeles Dodgers have had question marks swirling around their newly retooled lineup and roster all offseason long.
From second base, center field, and a fifth starter in the pitching rotation, there hasn’t been too much certainty in terms of where each player on this talented team will play. As the roster started to shrink in the later stages of Cactus League play, the everyday lineup got less cloudy, but still a few unknowns exist.

As the answer for the final starting pitcher in the rotation presented itself to the team in the form of Tony Gonsolin injuring his back while working out — paving the way for Dustin May to get the very much earned spot on the roster — Hyeseong Kim starting the season in Triple-A begs the question who will be the everyday second baseman.
Tommy Edman, the utility threat and NLCS MVP, has the ability to play both second and center field, and so does Chris Taylor.
Kiké Hernández can play anywhere on the field, while Andy Pages can bring his youth to the outfield, and Miguel Rojas can always fill in around the infield if needed.
Manager Dave Roberts recently said that the answer is all of those players listed above.
“I think it’s just going to remain fluid,” Roberts said. “I think that’s a position where we have different players that can play second base, can play center field. So it’s not going to be one certain situation, versus left, versus right.
“I think just kind of rotating Tommy [Edman], Kiké [Hernández] , MIggy Ro[jas] at second base, Tommy in center field, Andy [Pages] in center field – so it’s going to kind of remain fluid. I think each of those guys is going to play between three and call it five days (a week) – outside of Tommy, who’s going to be essentially an everyday guy.”
This move may surprise fans, but given the excess of talent on the roster, it makes complete sense for the Dodgers to take this route towards success.
