The Miami Dolphins are bringing back linebacker Tyrel Dodson on a two-year, $8.25 million deal, according to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports.

Dodson, 26, joined the Dolphins in November after he was waived by the Seattle Seahawks, despite leading that team in tackles through the first two months of the season. The late-season addition to the Miami roster was a welcomed one, as the team moved on from David Long Jr. and got quality play from Dodson both off the bench in relief of Anthony Walker Jr. and in the starting lineup.

In eight games and three starts with the Dolphins, Dodson recorded three interceptions (tied for the team lead) and 36 tackles.

Prior to his brief tenure with Seattle, Dodson began his NFL career by earning a spot with the Buffalo Bills after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2019. The linebacker spent his rookie year on the team’s practice squad and later appeared in 59 games with the team, recording 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and 143 tackles.

Dodson will likely enter the 2025 season penciled in as a starter in the Dolphins defense alongside Jordyn Brooks, who was added by the team as a free agent in 2024.
