Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Quinton Bell was set to hit the market Wednesday after the team opted against applying a tender to the impending restricted free agent. Instead, he’s returning to the team on a one-year, $1.5 million deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The switch up saved the Dolphins nearly $2 million, as the lowest level tender for a restricted free agent would’ve paid Bell a $3,263,000 salary for the 2025 season.

“The Dolphins are the first team that really have given me a real opportunity to go there in a regular season and play and improve and and grow as a player that helps his team,” Bell told the Miami Herald earlier this offseason. “I feel like I have a home here. I love it here. I love my coaches. I love the belief and the confidence they have in me. It would be amazing to run it back.”

Bell, who turns 29 in May, made stops with four other teams before joining the Dolphins in October 2023. After spending the remainder of that season on the Miami practice squad, Bell appeared in all 17 games during the 2024 season and played 257 defensive and 372 special teams snaps. In November, he recorded the first sack of his NFL career.

The Dolphins are set to have a stable of pass rushers returning in 2025 with Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips, and Chop Robinson leading the way at outside linebacker. The team will now add Bell back into the fold and is hopeful for a sophomore jump from 2024 fifth-round pick Mohamed Kamara.

Bell has one sack, one forced fumble, four tackles for loss, and 30 sacks in 26 career NFL games.
