The Miami Dolphins have put forward fullback Alec Ingold as their nominee for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year award, as revealed by the NFL on Thursday.
At 28, Ingold joined the Dolphins as a free agent in 2022, having launched his career with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders. During his first season with the Dolphins, he was honored with a Pro Bowl selection.
Since his arrival in Miami, Ingold has extended his charitable initiatives to South Florida, concentrating on supporting children within the child welfare system. Established in 2022, the Ingold Family Foundation aims to uplift underprivileged youth in the area.
Ingold was also the Dolphins’ nominee for this award last year and in 2020 when he was with the Raiders. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier expressed, “Alec continues to set a remarkable standard for what we expect from Dolphins players both on and off the field, and we are thrilled to acknowledge him once more as our Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee.
His unwavering devotion to his endeavors distinguishes him, and his zeal for impacting young lives, particularly those who resonate with his personal journey, is genuinely extraordinary.
When Alec’s football career concludes, his influence will persist, epitomizing the finest legacy a player can leave in the sport and the community.” Previously, Dolphins defensive lineman Calais Campbell secured the award while with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The victor will be disclosed at the NFL Honors ceremony, scheduled to take place just days before Super Bowl LIX in February.
