Eagles HC Nick Sirianni has a blunt message about Jalen Hurts’ chances of playing against Cowboys-HN

Nick Sirianni didn’t mince words regarding Jalen Hurts’ status for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback left last week’s loss to the Washington Commanders early after he suffered a concussion. And throughout the week, Hurts has not been spotted at practice.

Sep 16, 2024; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (1) talks with head coach Nick Sirianni during a timeout in the first quarter against the Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field.

So, how likely is it that he could clear the concussion protocol in just two days?

“It’s going to be tough for him to make it,” Sirianni told reporters on Friday.

This goes hand in hand with the Eagles’ roster move on Thursday, signing quarterback Ian Book to the practice squad.

With Hurts out, Kenny Pickett will get the start, while Tanner McKee and Book up would be the backup and third string quarterback respectively. However, the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback sustained a rib injury after replacing Hurts in the Eagles’ loss to the Commanders last week.

But, he told reporters he is good to go and looking forward to this chance.

“It’s a big opportunity,” Pickett said. “Been working hard to stay ready. Felt like I was in a good position last game with my preparation. Now having a week to practice, I’ll feel even better going into the stadium. I’m excited. Just want to get the win.”

The Eagles currently hold the second overall seed in the NFC, sitting behind the 13-2 Lions. While its playoff spot is guaranteed, Philadelphia still has a chance to claim that first overall seed and get the first-round bye.

So, let’s see if Pickett can help get the team one step closer.
