Eagles’ Josh Sweat makes a big change ahead of Super Bowl that could hint at his future in Philly-HN

Philadelphia Eagles sack monster Josh Sweat just made a big change ahead of Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs that could hint at his future with the team.

Sweat, who will hit the open market come March, changed agents on Monday and hired Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“With the Super Bowl on Sunday, and free agency looming next month, Eagles DE Josh Sweat changed agents today and hired Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha,” Schefter wrote on X/Twitter. “‘He clearly is one of the very top free agents,’ Rosenhaus said. Sweat led the Eagles this season with eight sacks.”

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Josh Sweat (19) and linebacker Zack Baun (53) against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lincoln Financial Field.

Sweat led the Eagles with eight sacks and 70 pressures in 2024.

The former 2018 fourth-round pick originally signed a one-year, $10 million “prove it” extension with the Birds last spring and will be looking for a lot more money than that this offseason.

His current estimated market value, according to Spotrac, is roughly $18.8 annually.

Whether or not the Eagles will be willing to pay up remains to be seen, but the market for a top edge like Sweat will be very competitive.

There is a possibility that Eagles general Howie Roseman could look at Sweat as a priority since Brandon Graham is en route to retirement and Milton Williams is also hitting free agency.

However, Sweat switching agents during Super Bowl week doesn’t scream that the Eagles have been in talks with him about a potential new deal.

We’ll see what happens in a few short weeks when free agency kicks off on March 12.
