ESPN: Bills’ Rasul Douglas named among top-50 free agents in NFL – HTX

Buffalo Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas has been named one of the best pending free agents by ESPN heading into the 2025 NFL offseason.

Douglas, 30 next season, landed at the No. 25 overall spot in the outlet’s ranking of the top-50 pending free agents.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler broke down Douglas’ free agency profile, adding he is open to staying in Buffalo:

Douglas is a physical corner with the length to disrupt the ball and the willingness to set an edge against the run (five tackles for loss this season). He’s an easy fit in a zone system that allows him to reroute underneath and attack the ball from the outside third of the field. Douglas returned one of his five interceptions for a touchdown in 2023, and he had five pass breakups this past season.

Fowler’s latest: Douglas is certainly open to staying in Buffalo, but the Bills, who have a penchant for paying in-house talent, could choose to prioritize young cornerback Christian Benford. Douglas will have a strong market among zone-heavy teams.

Douglas was acquired via trade two years ago by the Bills in a deal with the Green Bay Packers. Last offseason he restructured his contract to help the team’s salary cap situation.

Douglas was steady for Buffalo’s defense in 2024 but did not fare well in Pro Football Focus‘ metrics. His 53.9 overall grade was considered one of the worst for cornerbacks in the NFL last season.

Douglas did not have an interception last year but he had four total in 2023.

However, Douglas could be a piece the Bills welcome back easily depending on the price. Douglas and Christian Benford were a strong cornerback duo for Buffalo.

Free agency is slated to begin on March 10.
