Former Cowboys Star Could Join Eagles – Big Deal Coming Soon?-HN

The Philadelphia Eagles are flying high, having secured the NFC East and positioned themselves as one of the top contenders for the Super Bowl. With a roster brimming with talent, the Eagles don’t necessarily need to make major moves. However, a former star has just hit the market, sparking debate on whether Philadelphia should make a bold addition.

The Dallas Cowboys recently released three-time Pro Bowl running back Ezekiel Elliott, a decision confirmed by FOX Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz. “Breaking: Cowboys release RB Ezekiel Elliott, sources tell NFL on FOX,” Schultz reported. “Ezekiel Elliott requested his release and the Cowboys granted it out of respect for the player and person he has been for the organization. Elliott could now land with a playoff team — but he first goes on waivers.”

Elliott’s production this season hasn’t mirrored his previous Pro Bowl years. With just 226 rushing yards on 74 carries, his role in the Cowboys’ offense diminished. Despite the modest numbers, Elliott’s experience and skill set make him a valuable asset for playoff-bound teams. His blocking abilities and effectiveness in the passing game add versatility, traits that any contender could appreciate.

For the Eagles, the question isn’t whether Elliott could contribute but rather if he fits into their current scheme. Philadelphia boasts a powerful running game led by Saquon Barkley, with Kenneth Gainwell providing strong support as the backup. The duo has formed a reliable ground attack, minimizing the need for additional reinforcements.

However, adding Elliott could provide crucial depth, particularly as the postseason looms. Injuries can quickly derail even the most talented teams, and having a proven veteran like Elliott as an insurance policy could be invaluable. His presence could allow the Eagles to rotate backs more frequently, preserving Barkley’s energy for critical moments.

Ultimately, Elliott’s acquisition would not signal a lack of faith in the current roster but rather an opportunity to bolster an already formidable team. If Elliott clears waivers and remains available, the Eagles’ front office would be wise to at least explore the possibility. In the NFL, depth wins championships, and bringing Elliott to Philadelphia might just be the move that solidifies their path to glory.
