Buffalo Bills Mail Room Worker Breaks Down Talking About Josh Allen Honoring Him in MVP Speech

A Buffalo Bills mail room employee was recently moved to tears after quarterback Josh Allen mentioned his impact during his NFL MVP acceptance speech at the 2025 NFL Honors on Feb. 6.

Rick “Slick Rick” Morrow couldn’t believe his ears when he heard the 28-year-old Allen’s shout-out.

In an interview posted to the Bills’ YouTube channel on Tuesday, Feb. 11, Morrow said he would’ve been happy just to see Allen recognized for his talents, but he never expected to be recognized for his.

Josh Allen 17 of the Buffalo Bills celebrates after defeating the Tennessee Titans 34-10 at Highmark Stadium on October 20, 2024 in Orchard Park, New York.

“Thursday when I went home to watch the NFL awards, I was saying I was gonna cry if Josh didn’t win the award,” Morrow explained.

“So when Josh won the award, I was happy and jumping around, overjoyed. And then when he went onstage and started mentioning things and he mentioned my name, I started crying,” he said as his voice began to break while recalling the special moment.

During Allen’s speech, he took time to highlight those who have helped him along the way.

“From the equipment staff to the training room to the strength staff,” the football star said as he accepted the MVP Award. “To Slick Rick in the mailroom.”

The athlete added, “It truly takes everybody to have team success.”

“I basically broke down in tears,” Morrow said in his interview. “I couldn’t believe it. I really couldn’t believe it and I still can’t believe it to this day.”

Tearing up, Morrow described himself as “just an average person.”

“It’s still like a dream,” he confessed.

Morrow has been working with the organization for well over a decade.

In a November 2019 interview with The Buffalo News, now-retired tight end Lee Smith also spoke highly of Morrow.

“He’s just a special human being. It’s hard to be in a bad mood when you’re around that guy,” Smith, who played for the Bills in 2011 to 2014, 2019 and 2020, told the outlet.

“It’s human nature sometimes as players and coaches after a loss or after a tough week, you’re dealing with an injury, you can get down, but when there’s a dude like that around – he’s always just in the best mood like it’s the best day of his life,” Smith continued. “He just brings pure and good energy to everyone who’s around him.”

“Every time you walk past him, he’s just as happy as can be to be here. I’ve never had a bad interaction with him,” Allen told The Buffalo News in 2019. “Every time I talk to him or see him, I just come away feeling better about my day and myself, just because of how he attacks the day. It’s awesome.”

Morrow is a Buffalo native who has worked for the Bills for about 15 years, per WKBW. He is now in his 60s, but he told the local news station he has no plans to retire.

“I love my job, and I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else in the world. I wouldn’t. I’m living the dream, that’s the way I look at it,” Morrow said. “Every day I come in the building and punch in here it’s like I’m living the dream.”
