The Dallas Cowboys had the opportunity to select a premier cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they chose to strengthen their offensive line by drafting Alabama guard Tyler Booker.
This decision might be reconsidered next year if Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski’s projection materializes, with Michigan’s Jyaire Hill potentially joining the Cowboys in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Sobleski noted, “Although the Cowboys invested a third-round pick in Shavon Revel Jr.
recently, the defense still requires additional support at cornerback. Trevon Diggs was sidelined for most of 2023 due to an ACL tear and suffered another injury to the same knee last season. DaRon Bland also faced injuries in 2024 and is nearing a contract year.
Furthermore, the team needs a player to cover the slot since Jourdan Lewis departed for Jacksonville in free agency.” According to NFL Draft Buzz, Jyaire Hill from Michigan offers Dallas a cornerback with experience on the outside who can also play nickel. Draft Buzz highlighted his “explosive movement abilities and smooth athleticism with excellent change-of-direction skills to cover slot receivers.”
Over the next year, much can change, but if Hill delivers another strong performance at Michigan and the Cowboys still need to address the cornerback position long-term, Dallas could consider the former national champion.
