The Green Bay Packers have officially announced the signing of a former Baltimore Ravens player who once shared the field with quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jordan Love is set to welcome a new teammate for the 2025 NFL season. In an effort to bolster their lineup for the upcoming season, the Packers, led by their star quarterback Love, have made a strategic move to enhance their team.
This addition is a player who previously lined up with Lamar Jackson on the Ravens. Securing a spot in the NFL is challenging, and staying with the same team multiple times adds to the difficulty. The Packers have reintroduced a familiar player who was with Green Bay during the 2023 regular season after departing from Baltimore, where he played alongside Jackson.
The player rejoining Love’s Packers for a second tenure is linebacker Kristian Welch, as revealed by the Green Bay organization. Last year, Welch participated in nine games with Jackson’s Ravens and also had a stint with the Denver Broncos, dividing his season between the two franchises.
Welch’s earlier experience with the Packers saw him join their practice squad on August 31, 2023. He was elevated to the active roster a month later, appearing in 12 regular-season matchups and two postseason games for Green Bay. Welch embarked on his NFL journey by signing with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
He seemed to carve out a place for himself in Baltimore, but after three years and 43 games with Jackson, he transitioned to playing for the Packers. Having played in 72 regular-season games, Welch has established himself as a linebacker who has amassed 40 tackles over six NFL seasons. His primary strength lies in his special teams contributions, making him a valuable asset to Green Bay’s tactical approach.
