Nineteen weeks ago, Jordan Love couldn’t complete the Green Bay Packers’ season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles due to an MCL injury.
Now, Love is set to complete what he began in Week 1 as he has been cleared from the injury list and will take the field for Sunday’s Wild Card Weekend clash against the Eagles in Philadelphia. This time, Love has been nursing an elbow injury sustained in a Week 18 defeat to the Chicago Bears, but he was back to full practice on Thursday and is ready for the matchup in Philadelphia.
During their initial encounter this season, the Packers fell to the Eagles as the NFL made its debut in Brazil. Late in that game, Love hurt his knee and didn’t finish. This marked the start of a season plagued by injuries for Love. He missed two games due to the MCL sprain and later played while managing a groin injury. Now, he’s set to play despite the elbow issue.
Throughout the regular season, he averaged 225.9 passing yards per game, with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions over 15 starts. Love’s standout moment arguably came in his playoff debut last season when he guided the Packers to an upset over the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 273 yards and three touchdowns.
In that wild-card game, the seventh-seeded Packers overcame the second-seeded Cowboys, the NFC East champions. Once again, No. 7 Green Bay aims to upset the No. 2 Eagles, who also clinched the NFC East title. A fit Love will undoubtedly seek to replicate past success when the Packers (11-6) face off against the Eagles (14-3) at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
