The Green Bay Packers are focused on strengthening their lineup for the 2025 NFL season, aiming to make Matt LaFleur’s squad as versatile as possible. Consequently, the team has opted to extend the contract of a player who will support the offense, led by the talented quarterback Jordan Love.
Green Bay’s ambition is to establish Love as a reliable starter, guiding the team deep into the season. The previous 2024 season was inconsistent, ending with a wild-card round defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. LaFleur has emphasized the importance of Love stepping up as a team leader.
Therefore, retaining players who joined recently but haven’t fully integrated is crucial, as they will be given another chance. The player signing the extension to stay with the Packers is none other than tight end John FitzPatrick. FitzPatrick joined the Packers in October 2024 after a period with the Atlanta Falcons.
Last season, he participated in nine games under coach Matt LaFleur, catching one pass for two yards. FitzPatrick has a promising future in the NFL, having made his debut in 2023 following his selection in the sixth round of the 2022 Draft by the Falcons.
He has been part of Atlanta’s practice squad, appearing in a few games. Alongside re-signing FitzPatrick, the Packers have also made strategic changes to their offensive coaching team to maintain a robust roster. These changes include Luke Getsy returning as a senior assistant and the advancement of Sean Mannion to quarterbacks coach.
