Head coach Kyle Shanahan offered an update on Saturday regarding the recovery of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who suffered a torn ACL and MCL on October 20.
Aiyuk has been spotted around the 49ers facility recently as he continues his rehabilitation process following the devastating injury.
“Yeah, he’s plugging along with that,” Shanahan told reporters. “The rehab guys, I don’t see too much of. They come in early in the morning, and they’re usually out of here before we get off the practice field.”
Shanahan shared that Aiyuk underwent surgery to repair the knee damage in Los Angeles, with the initial phase of his rehabilitation taking place in Southern California.
“But he’s been back here like the last month or so going through his process, working hard,” Shanahan said. “It’s a long process, but he’s on track.”
The 49ers remain optimistic that Aiyuk, quarterback Brock Purdy’s favorite target last season, will make a strong recovery and hopefully be ready to contribute next season.
